HURRICANE DAMAGE AND FLOOD GROUTING PHOTOGRAPHS

Many of these photographs were taken after Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi. Click on the photograph for an enlarged view. I prepared Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Project Worksheets that verified and documented the hurricane damage, developed a scope of work and prepared a cost estimate to return the damaged infrastructure back to it's original condition. Most of the Project Worksheets were for damaged roads, water and sewer lines, sanitary sewer pump stations and drainage structures. Also, notice how the Flood Grouting Chemicals repaired this 12 inch diameter reinforced concrete test storm sewer pipe in Corpus Christi, Texas.

This Wal-Mart Store was on the beach near Long Beach. Mississippi. Notice the damage the wave action did.

This casino was on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. Wave action took out the lower portion of the structure.

This bridge connected Biloxi and Ocean Springs Mississippi. The power of water!

Failed bridge between Biloxi and Ocean Springs Mississippi.

Wave action took out the two lower floors of this Wind Jammer Hotel on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Vehicles damaged near Pass Christian, Mississippi.

This bridge connected Biloxi and Ocean Springs Mississippi. The bridge sections uplifted during the water surge and the wave action knocked the sections off the bridge bents into the water.

Graffito on this unit indicates "You Loot, We Shoot"!

This single family home floated off it's foundation during the flood event and came to rest on the station wagon. The house is located in Waveland, Mississippi where approximately 22 feet of surge water was reported.

This PVC liner was pulled out of a 132 inch diameter sanitary trunk sewer near Main Street and Interstate 10 north of downtown Houston. The liner material failed and balled up at a sewer junction box and was removed as part of an emergency construction project.

Wave action undermined the soil from underneath this section of roadway along the beach near Pass Christian, Mississippi.

This house is located on the beach in Biloxi Mississippi. Notice how powerful the wave action was and the damage the waves created!

This is what the test pipe looked like before the flood grouting test repair. Rubber gaskets were left out, holes were punched in the pipe on the top, bottom and sides and large openings were left where the pipe entered the manholes. The chemicals repaired all of the defects. Zachary Construction installed the brand new pipe and manholes and then added the defects.

This damaged 12 inch diameter test section of pipe was repaired using Flood Grouting Chemicals on Lyondell's Refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The section was 50 feet long with manholes at each end and had heavy intentional defects prior to the test.

We performed a hydrostatic water test on this section of test pipe prior to the flood grouting and it leaked like a sieve which was exactly what we wanted. We performed a hydrostatic water test after the flood grouting and the section did not leak.

We carefully hand dug around this test section of pipe and manholes so none of the conglomerates of chemical and soil would be disturbed.

Workers from Calco Construction hand mining a 100 foot long 108" diameter tunnel along Clinton Drive east of Wayside Drive under railroad tracks. Four flange bolted steel liner plates are being installed as mining progresses.

,Notice how the material sticks to the outside of the pipe like a hard sandstone. We used sand and native material for bedding and backfill and both materials resulted in the conglomerates as shown.
